In Brief: 15 Added to ACB's Nasdaq Bank Index

America's Community Bankers said it has added 15 banking stocks to its Nasdaq bank index.

The largest of the additions, announced Wednesday, is the $1 billion-asset PAB Bankshares Inc. in Valdosta, Ga. The smallest is the $79 million-asset Americas Bank Corp. in Towson, Md.

The additions also include three companies from South Carolina, three from New Jersey, and two each from Virginia and Connecticut.

ACB started the index in December 2003 to bring more visibility to community bank stocks. It includes more than 525 Nasdaq-listed banking and thrift company stocks. It excludes the 50 largest banking and thrift companies, as well as international and credit card specialists.

New stocks are added each June 1 and Dec. 1.
