The security software vendor 41st Parameter Inc. has hired a new chief executive, Robert Lewis.
Ori Eisen, the Scottsdale, Ariz., company's founder and former CEO, remains its chairman. Mr. Lewis has been CEO of other software and electronics companies and started with The 41st Parameter on Aug. 29. Most recently he was the chief executive of Evant Inc., a retail planning and data management software company.
Mr. Lewis joins the vendor at a difficult time. A yearend regulatory deadline from the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council has prompted several companies to upgrade their online security, but many have chosen to work with 41st Parameter's rivals.
Mr. Lewis said he is not deterred.
"I don't believe that the fact that they're going forward with other solutions ... [means] we don't have an opportunity," he said in an interview Monday. Banks "are still going to find that there's high value in the next step" of beefing up their online security.
