Jamie Shepherdson has been hired by Axa Financial Inc., the U.S. unit of the French insurance giant, to be an executive vice president and head its wholesale distribution division, Axa Distributors LLC.
He is to join the company's executive management committee, the company said on Monday, and will report to Christopher M. "Kip" Condron, the president and CEO of Axa Financial.
The hiring returns Mr. Shepherdson to the company's wholesale organization, which he co-founded in the late 1990s. He helped build the operation that made Axa the No. 3 seller of variable annuities in the United States.
He left Axa to become co-CEO of MetLife Investors Group but most recently was the CEO of John Hancock Funds, leading a product expansion and the creation of an investment platform after completion of the John Hancock-Manulife Financial merger.
