BancTrust Financial Group Inc. in Mobile, Ala., has hired a team of five commercial lenders away from the $81 billion-asset Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham.
Both companies confirmed the hirings last week, according to the Press-Register, a daily newspaper in Mobile.
Terry H. Harbin, Regions' Mobile president, was named the president of BancTrust Financial's $727 million-asset Mobile banking unit, BankTrust. The other four lenders will focus on Mobile and Baldwin counties, where the bank has nine branches.
"These hires represent a major investment in our Mobile and Baldwin County markets," W. Bibb Lamar Jr., the $1.3 billion-asset BancTrust Financial's president and chief executive officer, said in a press release. "Mobile is where we are headquartered, and Baldwin County is the second fastest-growing county in Alabama."
