Boiling Springs Savings Bank of Rutherford, N.J., is using multifactor authentication technology from Comodo Group Inc.
The Jersey City security software vendor said last week that Boiling Springs has installed its Two Factor and its Content Valuation Certificates products to improve its online banking authentication process.
"We felt that the Comodo TF solution offered us the best mix of strength, security, convenience for our online banking customers, and lowest total cost of ownership," Ken Emerson, Boiling Springs' chief technology officer, said in a Comodo press release.
The $1.1 billion-asset Boiling Springs has 14 branches in New Jersey.
The banking industry faces a yearend deadline from the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council to install stronger security measures for online transactions. Though the agency said its guidelines do not require multifactor technology, many financial companies have implemented it.
Multifactor authentication requires people to use more than just a username and password to gain access to a banking Web site.
