In Brief: Changes in Florida for SunTrust

SunTrust Banks Inc. announced a series of leadership changes in its Florida banking group Monday, including the retirements of two top executives.

The Atlanta company named Thomas G. Kuntz, 48, president and chief executive for Florida. He will officially take those titles Jan. 1 in succeeding George W. Koehn, 62, who is retiring June 30. Mr. Koehn, who joined SunTrust in 1979, is also chairman of the Florida banking group.

Mr. Kuntz is the chairman, president, and CEO of SunTrust's south Florida banking region. That post will be taken in January by James W. Rasmussen, 52, an executive vice president and retail banking line-of-business manager.

The company also said Thomas H. Yochum, 60, would retire Dec. 31 as chairman, CEO, and president for central Florida. He will be succeeded by Ray L. Sandhagen, 55, who oversees SunTrust's southwest Florida region. Margaret L. Callihan, 49, SunTrust's Chattanooga chairman, CEO, and president, will take over from Mr. Sandhagen. SunTrust has not said who will succeed Ms. Callihan.

The $152 billion-asset SunTrust has 1,700 branches in all and 414 in Florida.
