Mr. Barberis, who became CEO in May 2002, will remain with the company and move to Asia, Oberthur said.

The company said it has found a successor, who will take the top job in January, but it did not provide a name.

Oberthur was No. 31 last year on American Banker's annual FinTech 100 list of banking technology vendors.
