In Brief: Citi Hires Strategy Chief from McKinsey

NEW YORK - Citigroup Inc. hired Hamid Biglari as head of corporate strategy and a member of its 20-person management committee.

Mr. Biglari, 42,, was a partner and co-head of the global investment banking group at the McKinsey & Co. consulting firm. There he led a study of how new technologies would affect the financial services industry.

He reports to Sanford I. Weill, Citi's chairman and chief executive officer, and Robert E. Rubin, who is a member of the three-person office of the chairman.

In a press statement, Mr. Weill said Mr. Biglari will "help shape our long-term strategic agenda, identify, evaluate, and prioritize growth opportunities, and institute planning processes." Mr. Weill said Mr. Biglari's technology expertise will also help "broaden our presence on the Internet and in other new media."
