In Brief: Citi's Controller to Retire in March

Citigroup Inc.'s controller and chief accounting officer, William P. Hannon, will retire March 21.

The New York company disclosed the retirement plan in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Monday.

Mr. Hannon, 56, will remain a senior adviser to Citi.

John C. Gerspach, the chief financial officer and chief administrative officer for Citi Latin America, will succeed Mr. Hannon and will join the parent company's management committee. Mr. Gerspach, 51, has been the CFO of Citi Latin America since July 2003.

Mr. Hannon was the CFO at Travelers Property and Casualty from 1996 until 2000, when he became its controller. Before that he spent 15 years as a partner at the accounting firm KPMG.
