In Brief: Community of N.H. Income Plunges 16%

Community Bank and Trust Co. in Wolfeboro, N.H., said Monday that its third-quarter income fell 16% from a year earlier, to $1.79 million, or 50 cents a share.

The $435 million-asset commercial banking company reported a 62% jump in interest expenses, to $2.6 million. Net interest income went down 4%, to $5.3 million.

The loan portfolio totaled $407 million, about the same amount it did a year earlier. Deposits slipped 3%, to $344 million.

Community Bank and Trust said it will pay shareholders a cash dividend of 36 cents a share on Nov. 15. That would bring total dividends this year to $1.92, including a special dividend of 50 cents in July.
