The Shoreview, Minn., check printer said Thursday that Mr. Greene, 41, would start Oct. 2. He is now the CFO at Covalence Specialty Materials Corp. in Princeton, N.J., a maker of plastics, adhesives, and packaging products.

Mr. Greene is succeeding Terry Peterson, the chief accounting officer, who has been interim CFO since May. Douglas Treff, who had been Deluxe's CFO since October 2000, resigned in May.

Mr. Peterson will resume his position as accounting chief, Deluxe said.

Tyco International Ltd. sold Covalence to the private-equity firm Apollo Management LP in February.
