Diebold Inc. restructured its management team to boost sales abroad.
The North Canton, Ohio, automated teller machine maker said Tuesday that it has put James L. M. Chen and Joao Abud Jr. in charge of its international business operations.
Mr. Chen was promoted to vice president of Diebold's Europe, Middle East, and Africa/Asia Pacific division. He was already in charge of Asia Pacific operations.
Mr. Abud, who previously ran Diebold's operations in Brazil, was promoted to vice president of the expanded Latin America division and now oversees sales and service operations throughout the region.
Diebold plans to consolidate its Europe, Middle East, and Africa operations at a new headquarters in Switzerland at yearend. Henrik Funch, the division's vice president, has decided not to move to Switzerland and will leave the company by yearend.
Mr. Chen and Mr. Abud will report to Diebold's president and chief executive, Thomas W. Swidarski. In a press release, he said that the promotions "will help us expand our business into these promising areas."
