Doral Financial Corp. of San Juan, Puerto Rico, announced Friday that its president and chief operating officer for the past 14 years, Zoila Levis, is retiring Jan. 31.
Ms. Levis will remain a director. The new president and chief operating officer will be John A. Ward 3d. He has been the nonexecutive chairman since July and interim chief executive since September.
The banking company underwent a major executive shake-up in August after accounting problems related to interest-only strips in its mortgage portfolio were revealed.
Salomon Levis, Doral's chief executive and Ms. Levis' brother, resigned, as did his nephew Mario S. Levis, its treasurer.
David Levis, the former CEO's brother, resigned as director emeritus. Ricardo Melendez, Doral's chief financial officer, was fired.
