PITTSBURGH - Federated Investors Inc. has started up the Federated Market Opportunity Fund, a portfolio that is to emphasize maintaining value during periods of market turbulence.
The fund, which was announced Monday, is to invest in companies that Federated believes are attractively priced, overlooked by Wall Street and other mutual funds, and appear positioned to benefit from foreseeable change. Typically, stocks meeting these criteria have a history of doing well during periods of market stress and sell at attractive valuations relative to their earnings and growth rates.
In addition, the fund is to give investors diversification because it is expected to have a low correlation to the S&P 500.
