Fifth Third Bancorp Inc. announced another senior management reshuffling Thursday when it named chief information officer Greg D. Carmichael as its chief operating officer.
Mr. Carmichael has handled the Cincinnati company's operations since 2004. He joined Fifth Third in June 2003 as the head of information technology from Emerson Electric Co., where he had been chief information officer.
A spokeswoman for Fifth Third said Thursday that it has begun a search for a new chief information officer.
Fifth Third has reshuffled its management team several times in recent months. Last month it promoted Kevin Kabat, the head of its retail banking business, to president. In March the $105 billion-asset company hired John Presley, Marshall & Ilsley Corp.'s CFO, as an executive to help with corporate strategy, and one month later Christopher G. Marshall joined from Bank of America Corp. as the chief financial officer.
