The vendor said Monday that the $2.1 billion-asset First Security has agreed to use the NuEdge software to attract and retain customers.

The bank, which has used Metavante's Bankway core banking software since 1985, will be the first Bankway customer to also use the marketing software. Metavante is offering the marketing software to all of its Bankway clients.

The NuEdge software examines a bank's customer data to develop targeted marketing programs, and it is designed to give bank employees faster access to the data, to help cross-selling efforts.

"Understanding our customers' behaviors, preferences, and preferred channels of communication were among our challenges," Reynie Rutledge, First Security's chairman, said in a Metavante press release. He also said he expected the software to increase referrals and sales.
