Prudential PLC in London announced Wednesday that FMR Corp. and Fidelity International Ltd. had informed it that since Nov. 11 they had raised their Prudential stock holdings to 3.039% of the common shares.
FMR, the Boston mutual fund giant, and Fidelity International called their stake a nonbeneficial interest, held solely for investment purposes, the announcement said. The recent stock purchases amounted to 17.2 million shares, raising the stake to 72.4 million. The U.S. companies' notification to Prudential came on Tuesday.
