In Brief: Gabelli Names Exec to New COO Position

Gabelli Asset Management Inc. has promoted Douglas Jamieson to the new post of president and chief operating officer.

Mr. Jamieson has been chief operating officer of the company's Gamco Investors Inc. unit since 1986, it said on Monday. Gamco Investors manages $13 billion of private advisory accounts for institutional investors and high-net-worth customers.

Gabelli Asset Management in Rye, N.Y., oversees about $27 billion of assets. In his new post, Mr. Jamieson is to oversee all business units, including Gamco, the mutual funds unit, and Gabelli Securities Inc., which includes the hedge fund and institutional broker-dealer businesses.
