Commerce Bank of Cherry Hill, N.J., will begin offering a Visa gift card with no purchase fee to its bank customers Friday.

Heather Newcomb, a Commerce spokeswoman, said that "our understanding" is that Commerce is the only bank offering such a product for free. Other banks charge fees ranging from $3.95 to $11.95 for gift cards, Commerce said. Some offer the cards for lower prices if they are ordered on the Web.
The Commerce Visa Gift Card will be available in values of $25 to $500 at all of its branches. Ms. Newcomb said the card and its shiny red box are only available to Commerce customers.
