NEW YORK GreenPoint Financial Corp. said Wednesday that it had promoted Howard C. Bluver to executive vice president responsible for legal, regulatory, compliance, audit and other staff functions.
Mr. Bluver will continue to be GreenPoints chief legal officer. GreenPoint has $11 billion of deposits and 74 branches in the New York area. in addition to a national mortgage business that originates more than $13 billion of loans annually.
The Cleveland-based bank is projecting steady growth in net interest income even as credit losses remain manageable. But Chairman and CEO Chris Gorman also said that he thinks a recession is likely.
The first-quarter increase involved commercial real estate loans, including some problematic multifamily loans and an office credit, but none of the criticized loans were to consumers, officials at the Dallas company say. Further CRE deterioration is anticipated.
