In Brief: Guardian-Berkshire Merger Completed

NEW YORK — Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America, has completed its acquisition of Berkshire Life Insurance Co. of Pittsfield, Mass.

The deal was originally announced in September and was completed Monday.

Berkshire Life will be responsible for all sales of individual disability income and will help Guardian explore opportunities in the institutional and high-net-worth markets.

Guardian, whose agents have been selling through community banks for almost a year, is the fourth-largest U.S. mutual life insurance company.
