SAN FRANCISCO - Visa International has signed a two-year marketing agreement with Imax Ltd., the technology company that produces giant-screen films.

Visa will give its cardholders discounts on Imax tickets, merchandise, and concessions. The card company will also post Imax offers on its Web site.

Imax said it will participate in Visa's marketing promotions by offering tickets to private screenings and film premieres.

The partnership includes a joint international advertising campaign, in which all participating Imax theaters will display Visa signs and banners exclusively. The theaters will also display the Visa logo on their Web sites, where customers can purchase tickets.

Tom Shepard, an executive vice president at Visa, stressed the international scope of the deal. The alignment with Imax "promotes our respective brands to a global audience," he said.

There are 220 Imax theatres in 28 countries.
