ING Group NV plans a marketing campaign in certain cities to increase the market share of its U.S. online banking business.
Dick Harryvan, a member of the Amsterdam banking company's executive board, said in an investor presentation Wednesday that ING will start advertising this week in Chicago. It also plans further marketing campaigns in the next few months in "two other major metropolitan areas," which he did not name.
Currently most of its U.S. customers come from the East and West coasts, and its marketing has focused on seven states: New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, California, and Arizona.
ING has no branches in the United States.
