In Brief: IronStone to Enter 3 States, Expand in Texas

IronStone Bank in Fort Myers, Fla., said Monday that it plans to enter Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma and expand in Texas.

The $2.1 billion bank said it has applied to regulators to open a branch in Overland Park, Kan.; one in Kansas City, Mo.; two in Oklahoma City; and two in Dallas.

It already has three branches in Austin and recently announced plans to open one in Houston. IronStone has 46 branches in urban markets in nine states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, and Georgia.

IronStone is a subsidiary of the $15.7 billion-asset First Citizens BancShares Inc. in Raleigh. The company's flagship unit is the $13.3 billion-asset First Citizens Bank, which has 340 branches in North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Maryland.
