Berkshire Hills Bancorp in Pittsfield, Mass., has hired Thomas C. Crowley, a veteran Albany-area banker, as the president of its New York region.
In the last few months the $2 billion-asset thrift company has opened two branches of its Berkshire Bank in the Albany area as well as a commercial bank, Berkshire Municipal Bank.
Mr. Crowley "brings immediate legitimacy to Berkshire Bank in New York," said Michael P. Daly, the company's president and chief executive, in a news release. "The addition of a regional president to our team is the natural progression in our growth."
Mr. Crowley has more than 25 years of banking experience. Most recently he had been executive vice president of Evergreen Bank in Glens Falls, N.Y., a TD Banknorth Inc. unit that recently took the TD Banknorth name.
