PURCHASE, N.Y. - MasterCard International said it has started a summer promotion centered around a $100,000 sweepstakes.

From June 1 through Aug. 31, each purchase using a MasterCard enters the cardholder in the sweepstakes.

To advertise the promotion, MasterCard has started running a new commercial in the "Priceless" series. The 30-second spot shows a family on a road trip and ends with the tag line, "440 miles of family bonding: priceless."

Print ads will run in national publications such as Newsweek, Time, and Good Housekeeping.

The promotion, named Summer Escape, also has an Internet component where cardholders can win trips to see sporting events.

Separately, MasterCard said it has teamed up with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York to issue one million MetroCards featuring four New York Mets players.

The cards, made in honor of this month's Subway Series between the Mets and the New York Yankees, will be available from June 1 to June 20.

Consumers who use a MasterCard to buy a MetroCard with a Mets player photo will be automatically entered in a sweepstakes to win a pair of tickets to the Subway Series.
