PURCHASE, N.Y. - MasterCard International has hired Denise Fletcher as its new chief financial officer, a position that has been vacant for seven months.
Ms. Fletcher was previously senior vice president and chief financial officer at Bowne & Co., a financial printing company. She helped complete 20 acquisitions for Bowne, including a tender offer for a public company.
Before joining Bowne in 1996 Ms. Fletcher ran her own financial consulting firm. Her clients included Chase Manhattan Corp. and National Westminster Bank. She was also corporate treasurer of the New York Times Co.
Ms. Fletcher has a master's degree in city planning and economics from Harvard University and a bachelor's degree in sociology from Wellesley College.
She will report to Robert Selander, MasterCard's president and chief executive officer.
MasterCard's previous chief financial officer, Frank Cotroneo, left the company in January to work for H & R Block Inc.
