Independent West Michigan, a unit of the $3.4 billion-asset Independent Bank Corp., has a Muskegon loan office that the company wants to turn into a full-service branch. Mr. Infante will mostly be responsible for business development.

At Community Shores, Heather D. Brolick succeeded him as president and CEO. The board said it would name a nonexecutive chairman after amending its bylaws.

Mr. Infante was a co-founder of the 8-year-old company. Ms. Brolick, one of its original employees, has been a senior vice president of the holding company and the president and chief operating officer of its Community Shores Bank since December 2003.
