In Brief: Morningstar Exec Joins Acumation

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Acumation Inc., the investment technology subsidiary of mutual fund company American Century Inc., has hired Jim Wironen, president of Morningstar’s institutional division, to head its own sales and marketing unit.

Mr. Wironen was given the title of executive vice president of sales and marketing. While at Morningstar he developed the company’s ClearFuture online advice product. Before joining Morningstar he worked for Fidelity Investments, Frank Russell Cos., and New York Life.

Acumation was founded in July 1999 and is being spun off from American Century, of Kansas City, Mo. Acumation’s flagship product, FundAdvisor, lets clients of banks, mutual fund companies, and brokers select mutual fund portfolios to fit long- and short-term goals, such as buying a home, saving for college, or building wealth for retirement.
