In Brief: NationsBank Fills Post-Barnett-Merger Jobs

With their planned merger expected to close in the first quarter, Barnett Banks Inc. and NationsBank Corp. unveiled their first round of senior staff changes Thursday.

Upon completion of the merger, NationsBank Florida president Adelaide "Alex" Sink would assume statewide oversight for the commercial strategies group, which serves business customers with $50 million to $250 million of annual revenue. She would retain the president title.

Ms. Sink would also act as senior executive overseeing retail and commercial operations in the Tampa Bay region.

In other key appointments, Sam Davis, Barnett's north region bank executive, would become president for South Florida, and Larry Mallard, currently NationsBank's Florida consumer banking executive, would become president for North Florida.

Lee Hanna, Barnett's chief retail delivery executive, and Alex Crotzer, its chief business banking executive, would take the top Florida consumer and commercial posts. Both would report to Allen L. Lastinger Jr., now Barnett's president. The banks previously announced he would become chairman of NationsBank Florida when the deal closes.
