SAO PAULO - Citigroup has chosen Gustavo Marin to be president of its $9 billion-asset Brazilian banking unit.
Mr. Marin joined Citigroup in 1981 in Uruguay. He went to Brazil in 1998 as a vice president in charge of the corporate and investment banking business.
He is to succeed Alcides Amaral, who is retiring at the end of June after 46 years at Citibank in Brazil. The banking company has more of a presence in Brazil than in any other emerging market, with about 350,000 retail customers and 35 branches.
