SAN FRANCISCO - NextCard Inc. is to start testing mobile commerce this fall with SkyGo, a wireless interactive marketing company.
The two companies are planning to run a mobile shopping and marketing trial with 1,000 users in Boulder, Colo.
During the four-month trial, people will be able to use NextCard credit cards to make secure purchases through their mobile phones. They are to key in personal identification numbers to gain access to their billing, shopping, and account information, which will be kept in an electronic wallet on a secure SkyGo server.
Select local merchants and national advertisers will deliver marketing messages through SkyGo to the consumers' wireless protocol-enabled phones.
NextCard said it will run the test to gain insight about selling products, acquiring customers, and building loyalty programs using the wireless Web.
