Larry E. Duckworth, the chief executive of OmniAmerican Bank in Fort Worth, died Thursday morning. He was 59.
Mr. Duckworth had a heart attack in August and had heart surgery in late January, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Friday. He was recovering at home when he died, the paper said.
Mr. Duckworth became CEO and president of the organization in 1990, when it was a federal credit union, and led it through a hotly contested charter conversion. It became a federal savings bank on Jan. 1, 2006.
He will be remembered "as a visionary leader with revolutionary ideas," OmniAmerican's board said.
Jane Adams, an executive vice president at the $1.1 billion-asset OmniAmerican, was named its acting CEO.
