Putnam Investments announced Friday the plan of John F. Boneparth, the head of its global institutional management business, to retire Sept. 30.
Sandra C. Whiston, the head of Putnam Institutional Management, and Jeffrey F. Peters, the head of Putnam Alliance Business, will now report to the company’s president and CEO, Ed Haldeman.
Mr. Boneparth joined Putnam in 1992 as chief of sales for the institutional business. In 1999 he was named head of the international business, and Putnam became one of the largest non-Japanese retail asset managers in Japan, with more than $20 billion.
He was named to his current role in mid-2004.
Ms. Whiston is an 18-year veteran in Putnam’s institutional business. She has managed and developed teams for product management and investment services, investment strategy and research, and business strategy.
Mr. Peters joined Putnam in 1999 from McKinsey & Co. as a managing director of corporate development. In 2001 he became the chief operating officer of Putnam’s international business before taking on his current role.
At May 31 the Boston investment company managed $196 billion of assets, including $64 billion for institutional clients.
