In Brief: RiskMetrics Buying Institutional of Md.

RiskMetrics Group Inc. announced Wednesday that it has agreed to buy Institutional Shareholder Services Inc., a provider of corporate governance research, proxy voting services, and analytical databases to money managers.

RiskMetrics, of New York, said it would have revenue of $200 million by buying the Rockville, Md., company.

The price of the deal, which is expected to close by yearend or shortly after, was not disclosed.

RiskMetrics, which was spun off in 1998 from what was then J.P. Morgan & Co., provides financial risk analytics to banks, central banks, hedge funds, asset managers, pension funds, and corporations.
