SunGard Data Systems Inc. announced Tuesday that it has bought a Chinese financial software vendor, Shanghai Fudan Kingstar Computer Co. Ltd, to help SunGard expand its operations in China.

The 10-year-old Shanghai-based company has more than 400 customers, including four of China’s five largest financial companies. It offers software and processing services for exchange management, futures trading, securities trading, gold trading, brokerage management, and data warehousing.
It also offers technology to China’s higher education and public-sector markets, including smart card systems.
Kingstar is to operate as part of the Wayne, Pa., technology vendor’s SunGard Asia Pacific unit.
