Texas Regional Bancshares Inc. of McAllen said Monday that its third-quarter net income rose 27% from a year earlier, to $19.8 million.
Net income for the first nine months of 2004 rose 20%, to $55.8 million., spurred by a big jump in fee income.
Third-quarter fee income was $39 million, 66% more than a year earlier. For the nine months fee income rose 53%, to $103 million.
The $5.6 billion-asset company's asset quality remained solid. Nonperformers were $16.6 million, or 0.47% of total loans, on Sept. 30. A year earlier nonperforming assets stood at $10.5 million, or 0.44% of total loans.
