Mr. Lyons will start his new job Monday, the vendor said Wednesday. He will succeed David R. Bankhead, who has been the CFO since July 2003. Transactions Systems said Mr. Bankhead will remain a senior vice president and assist in its efforts to optimize its global infrastructure.

William J. Hoelting, Transaction Systems' head of investor relations, said Mr. Bankhead wanted to try something new.

After three years at the company, and 25 years as the financial chief of public companies, "Dave wanted to change his responsibilities," Mr. Hoelting said.

Mr. Lyons has 20 years of finance experience, most recently as the CFO at General Electric Co.'s Discovery Systems. He will work out of Transaction Systems' new office in New York.

Last month Transaction Systems agreed to buy the cash management software provider P&H Solutions Inc. for $150 million in cash. That deal is expected to close this month.
