In Brief: TransUnion Acquires Documentation Firm

WILMINGTON, Del. - TransUnion LLC announced Tuesday that it has acquired Statewide Documentation, a Calabasas, Calif., company that prepares and delivers mortgage loan documents.

The Chicago-based TransUnion, a component of the Marmon Group conglomerate owned by the Pritzker family, said it will integrate Statewide into TransUnion Settlement Solutions Inc., a subsidiary that facilitates real estate loan originations and closings for 3,500 lenders in the United States.

Rick Lynch, the president of the seven-year-old subsidiary, said it is the fastest-growing unit of TransUnion. The Statewide purchase is the eighth by TransUnion to "round out" its service offering to lenders. In the past the company has purchased a flood certification company, an appraisal company, and a title agency.

Statewide was one of several third-party vendors used by TransUnion Settlement Solutions to prepare and present loan documents during real estate transactions.
