Mr. Waugh will oversee all U.S. sales and servicing operations for Wincor Nixdorf, which offers automated teller machines to banks and point of sale terminals to merchants, and provides maintenance services for both. The company said he will also be responsible for helping it expand in North America.

In July, Wincor Nixdorf's chief executive, Karl-Heinz Stiller, said he was eager to acquire U.S. ATM companies. According to ATM & Debit News' 2006 vendor survey, the company had about 3% market share in the United States in 2005.

Mr. Waugh was previously founder, president, and CEO of the customer relationship management consulting company Watch Hill Partners LLC.
