In Brief: Wamu Hires B of A Card Executive

SEATTLE - Washington Mutual Inc. announced Monday that it had hired longtime Bank of America Corp. credit card executive Kenneth Kido as executive vice president of consumer lending.

Mr. Kido had been working out of Bank of America's Charlotte, N.C., headquarters as head of its $25 billion-asset consumer card division and worked for Bank of America and its predecessors for 24 years. But for most of his B of A career he was based in Washington State. He started his new job last week.

Wamu, a thrift company, has been expanding its consumer banking business by adding services such as free checking and online banking.
