In Brief: Wells California Head Terri Dial Retires

SAN FRANCISCO — Terri Dial, head of California banking for Wells Fargo & Co. and one of the remaining senior managers from the legacy Wells Fargo & Co., is retiring from the bank at the end of the first quarter.

Ms. Dial started her 27-year career at Wells as a teller and rose to executive vice president. Her departure follows the announcement earlier this month that Jim Campbell, head of banking in Minnesota and a career veteran of Norwest Corp., would retire in 2002. Norwest acquired Wells Fargo in 1998.

Carrie Tolstedt, regional president for central California, was named to succeed Ms. Dial.
