ING Unit Taps Chief for Latin America

ING Americas announced that Carlos Muriel is to become chief executive officer and president of its insurance and pension operations in Latin America.

Mr. Muriel, 47, is to succeed, as CEO, Robert Crispin, 61, who recently announced that he would retire Dec. 31 as chairman and chief executive officer of ING Investment Management and Latin America. Mr. Muriel, the chairman and chief executive officer of ING Mexico, is to take up his new role Jan. 1 in charge of ING's insurance and pension operations in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay, the unit of Amsterdam's ING Group NV said on Tuesday.

Mr. Muriel became chairman and chief executive officer of ING Mexico in 2005. Previously he was a managing director at ING Financial Markets LLC in New York, where he was responsible for financial markets operations in the Americas.

ING Americas has operations in the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
