ISB Community Bank in Wisconsin Changes Name to Ixonia

ISB Community Bank in Ixonia, Wis., is returning to its roots.

A decade after changing its name to reflect a broader geographic reach, ISB has reverted to its former name, Ixonia Bank, the Milwaukee Business Journal reported Tuesday. The bank had operated as Ixonia State Bank from 1918 to 2003, according to its website.

The bank changed its name as it sought to expand in southeastern Wisconsin. It has opened a couple of branches in communities near Ixonia, but it has not made any acquisitions. The bank has seven branches in Jefferson and Waukesha counties.

Ixonia is "a unique name that has historically signified strength and soundness," said Dan Westrope, the bank's president and chief executive, in the news release.

Last year, Milwaukee investor Sheldon Lubar and his family gained control of the bank and its parent, Ixonia Bancshares, by contributing $16.5 million toward the bank's $21 million recapitalization. Lubar is the chairman of Lubar & Co., an investment firm that holds stakes in companies throughout the upper Midwest.
