Jack Henry & Associates Inc. joined other large technology vendors in reporting an improved sales environment on Tuesday, posting an 11% year-over-year increase in quarterly revenue and a bigger backlog of future sales. Its net income rose 5%, to $33.1 million.
The Monett, Mo., company said its revenue reached $240.2 million in the fiscal third quarter ending on March 31. The figure was slightly below analysts' estimates of $242.4 million, according to Thomson Reuters.
"Against a backdrop of ongoing improvement in the economy we have seen increased sales activity levels and results," Jack Prim, the company's chief executive, said in a press release.
The company said its revenue got the biggest boost from growth in its electronic payments business as well as increased demand for technology outsourcing services, which helped offset weak revenue from licensing.
