Kaspersky Lab Adds Online Payment Protection to Security Software

Kaspersky Lab, a developer of secure content and threat management products, has released new versions of its internet security and anti-virus offerings designed to protect e-commerce and online banking users.

The upgrades of Kaspersky Internet Security and Kaspersky Anti-Virus software include protection against viruses and spyware, have faster installation and use less computer resources and battery life, the company said Thursday.

The company has added Safe Money, a service designed to protect consumers' online payment and online banking transactions, to its Internet Security product. The service is automatically activated when consumers visit common payment services and banking websites. It isolates payment operations in a special web browser to ensure transactions aren't monitored and it verifies the authenticity of the banking or payment website.

Kaspersky has also added Automatic Exploit Prevention to both products. Cybercriminals can gain control of a computer by finding security flaws in programs and applications until the user downloads updates. This new feature will notify users when programs are out-of-date and prevent such vulnerabilities from being exploited.
