Lamar Bank in Mississippi to use Kirchman's Dimension software.

Lamar Bank in Purvis, Miss., has selected a new core processing system.

The Purvis, Miss.-based bank will be using Kirchman Corp.'s Dimension software running on an AT&T System 3000 computer, starting in March of next year.

Lamar Bank is also the only community bank operating in the Hattiesburg region of Southern Mississippi.

Over the past six years, the bank has grown in size from $57 million of assets to more than $150 million.

According Lamar senior vice president, Kenneth M. Lott, the bank needed to install a new system that would enable it to keep pace with this growth and compete with larger state-wide banks.

"Hattiesburg is an educational, retail, and commercial hub," he said.

"We needed a solution that would enable us to quickly introduce new loan and deposit products."

Lamar Bank has a history of being an innovator in its market, said Mr. Lott, pointing out that Lamar was the second bank in Mississippi to introduce image statements.

He added the bank planned to enhance its voice-response services and offer a debit card product once the new Kirchman system is up and running.

Kirchman is based in Orlando. Lamar is the ninth bank to sign up for the Kirchman software running on an AT&T platform.
