To discourage hackers' attacks against wireless devices, SIMalliance has opened up its software to third-party developers.
The London trade association is trying to broaden the scope of its Secure Element software. The product provides authentication for near-field communication payments and identity services. The developer tools are called Open Mobile API.
"Knowing their data is safe will increase consumer confidence and stimulate growing demand for new services," Frederic Vasnier, SIMalliance's chairman, said in a press release.
SIMalliance said its membership is responsible for delivering widely distributed mobile application delivery platforms.
