MasterCard Names Two as Executive VPs For Drive to Promote

MasterCard International has created and filled two executive vice president positions to facilitate international expansion.

Joseph V. Tripodi, 40, has been named executive vice president for global marketing and services. He will be based at MasterCard's Purchase, N.Y., headquarters.

Richard N. Child, 39, has been named executive vice president. He will continue his responsibilities as president of the Latin American and Caribbean region, based in Miami.

Both will report to H. Eugene Lockhart, MasterCard's president and chief executive officer.

Since joining MasterCard in 1989, Mr. Tripodi has served as vice president for Europe, vice president for international marketing, and most recently senior vice president for global marketing.

He came to MasterCard after eight years of planning, marketing, and general management for Mobil Oil affiliates in Hong Kong, Paris, Guam, and New York.

"This business is getting more and more global," said Mr. Tripodi. "There's a real value in having strongly unified global positioning for the brand."

Mr. Child has spent 12 years with MasterCard, starting as vice president for the Latin American region. He also served as the association's first head of global marketing and advertising.

Before that, Mr. Child headed international development for Argencard SA, the exclusive MasterCard member in Argentina. He represented Argencard on MasterCard's international operations committee.

"Latin America has developed a tremendous turnaround and has enormous future potential," said Mr. Child, which he attributed to changes in the policies of their governments.
