Michigan First Credit Union said its use of intelligent-deposit ATMs from Wincor Nixdorf AG has helped it deal with a ballooning membership.
Since the Lathrup Village, Mich. credit union began using machines with envelope-free cash and check deposit in 2004, it has increased its membership nearly 70%, to 87,000 members. It has 18 of the German ATM maker's machines today.
"Without the Wincor Nixdorf ATMs, Michigan First would have needed many more branches to handle the increased volume," said Michael Poulos, Michigan First's president and chief executive, in a press release Wednesday.
Wincor Nixdorf intelligent deposit modules resemble technology also offered by Diebold Inc., and NCR Corp.
